Several people have come to Fishers Island Waste Management with a question about what to do with personal "sharps".
Dr. Frank has come up with an answer to our "sharps" dilemma. The answer came from the person in-charge of CT's waste management. He said since our trash is burned, we can tell people that to dispose of their personal needles they should put them in a laundry detergent or similar plastic bottle that has a top that can be screwed on. Then the plastic bottle with the cap screwed on securely can be thrown in with regular household waste. The waste is burned, therefor burning needles completely. The sharps must be put into something that will burn like the aforementioned plastic bottles, not anything metal or glass, as the metal or glass will not burn and the needles may not be destroyed properly.
