Important Information on RECYCLING and E-WASTE

FIWMD is doing research to try to inform you and give you options as to what to do with your E-Waste and other items that must be properly recycled as mandated by New York and Connecticut State Laws.

Earth 911.com and 1-800-Recycling.com are websites who's mission is to help us become greener residents of our planet and help us abide by our State laws by providing ideas, tips and information on how to REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE. They also provide listings of local businesses, stores and locations where to take items that by law have to be recycled. Many of the listings accept many of the items considered to be E-Waste or Hazardous materials at no cost to the consumers. Please click on the links below for more information.

Thank you for your patience as we all try to get used to the new Government laws and requirements.

Fishers Island is part of New York State but due to our location all of our waste and recyclables go to Connecticut, therefor we must not only abide by New York State laws/regulations but also by Connecticut Stat laws/regulations.
