Items accepted:
-All colors glass bottles and jars, aluminum cans, steel cans of food and drink , plastic containers marked 1 or 2, Milk and juice boxes go with Bottles and cans
-Paper products: magazines, news paper, cereal boxes, cookie boxes, books, soda cases, beer cases (non corrugated)
-Corrugated cardboard must be flattened or cut 2' X 2'
** Styrofoam beans, peanuts must be bagged **
-Household garbage example, kitchen waste, bathroom waste.
** No big household items, like furniture, pillows, clothing, rugs. All that goes to the compost station. **
Here is how Fishers Island Transfer Station is set up and where things go:
Top Platform:
1st Dumpster (Left) is for Household Garbage
-Kitchen Trash
-Bathroom & Bedroom Trash
-Styrofoam, Properly Bagged Peanuts
-Broken Glass Bagged
2nd Dumpster (Middle) is for Corrugated Cardboard
-Cardboard should be empty
-Cardboard should be cut or flatten 2ft X 2ft
3rd Dumpster (Right) is for Household Garbage and Contractor’s use.
Bottom Platform (Recycling):
The Dumpsters change around, so Please Read All Signs as for they are there to guide and help you properly recycle.
Bottles & Cans Dumpster
-Any Glass Color Bottles or Jars
-Plastic Containers, Plastic Bottles marked 1 or 2
-Aluminum Cans, Clean Aluminum Foil
-Tin Cans
-Food Cans
-Milk and Juice Cartons
-All Containers/ Bottles Must be Emptied and Rinsed
Paper Products Dumpster
-News Papers
-Books
-Cereal Boxes, Cookie Boxes
-Food Product Boxes
-Egg cartons (made of Paper)
-Magazines
-Gift Boxes
-Paper Products
*** All Dumpsters are Properly Labeled with Big Signs so please take the time to read them before you dispose your items into the proper Dumpster. ***
